A day long workshop on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) was organized by the development organization Rapport Bangladesh Limited on Saturday at a local hotel. This workshop was conducted by an eminent international trainer Dr Fernanda Durate, Associate Professor, School of Business, Western Sydney University, Australia. The workshop was inaugurated by Dr M Mosharraf Hossain, Chairman & Managing Director, Rapport Bangladesh Limited in the morning session.
Information and Cultural Affairs Minister Mr Abul Kalam Azad urged upon all business houses large, medium or small to come forward with their denotable surplus wealth, however small it may be to contribute to the distressed people around us. “In order to fulfill their corporate social responsibility they should provide resources to build institutions and projects which will benefit people who need our help”– observed the Information and Cultural Affairs Minister Abul Kalam Azad. The Minister was addressing as Chief Guest in the Concluding Session of the Workshop. The Minister also distributed Certificate to the Participants of the Workshop. The function was addressed by Dr Fernanda Durate, Chairman of Public Service Commission Dr Sa-adat Husain who chaired the function while Mr AKM Rafiqul Islam, Managing Director, Pragati Insurance Ltd was the Guest of Honour. The Chairman & Managing Director of Rapport Bangladesh Limited presented the Address of Welcome and moderated the function. In his address he told that the corporate business houses now have realized the importance of Corporate Social Responsibility(CSR) and they are now spending large sum of money in creating institutions and infrastructure to serve disadvantaged people.
